Volunteers Overview
In the course of a typical month, ACCSCT staff and on-site evaluation team members conduct an average of 35 on-site evaluations to accredited and applicant institutions in any of the fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands. In fact, in 2006 ACCSCT conducted 349 on-site evaluations. The staff and Commission of ACCSCT rely heavily on the thousands of volunteers, such as Team Leaders, Education Specialists, and Occupation Specialists, who make it possible to conduct reviews to such a wide range of institutions.
The purpose of the on-site evaluation is for the team to verify information contained within an institution’s Application for Accreditation and Self-Evaluation Report, to seek additional information, and, in general, to develop an understanding of how well the school meets its announced objectives and demonstrates compliance with the Standards of Accreditation. Team members confer with administration, instructors, other school employees, students, graduates, and employers of the graduates in making an assessment of conditions, programs of training, and effectiveness of the school.
